I want you think about this. You are a business. Thinking about it-right. You are a brick and mortar store or a pizza restaurant. Next time you are in Starbucks, look around. What do you see? Notice the stuff before you get to the barista. You know the cute inked one with the noise ring. That is what I need to start my day. Sorry, back to the point. You are a business. What is your inventory as a real estate agent?
The first inventory item is your time. What business would stay in business if they did not control your pizza dough or coffee beans? If you walk into the back and saw inventory laying on the counter and floor. You would close your doors quick. Yet you see agents wasting their time, just the same. You must manage your time.
Here are a couple of ways for you to do that. One, figure out how you will keep your time. Is it a weekly day planner that you write down the whole week broke down in thirty minutes? Is it an app on your phone that does the same? I do not care the way you choose, but do it. Write down your personal time first. Than the rest of the stuff you need. However, put down the activities of your business. Then live it. No more pizza dough on the floor.
The next inventory item, is your knowledge. People are always asking about this, that and the other. Why are they asking? You need to always make a conscious effort to make an appointment or ask for their business when they ask. Understand you are building a business relationship. Do you know your scripts and dialogues to have the business building conversations? Do you have the knowledge to pass along? I spend a lot of time and cash to make sure I am knowledgeable about real estate. You do not want to just give that away. Do not spill the coffee.
So, I hope you got the idea. Lincoln put it best with,” A lawyer’s time and advice are his stock in trade.” We need to act accordingly. Learn to control these two items and your business will explode
